Wildlife Groups Sue for Wolves; "Terrorism" Hypocrisy Continues

Published June 02, 2009 @ 12:07PM PT

There will be an overdue "Animals in the Blogs" roundup of other interesting posts sometime tomorrow or Wednesday, but in the meantime, please check out the following press release and post. [Edit: Was no one going to tell me that when I wrote this, "tomorrow" and "Wednesday" were the same day? Everyone was content to let me go on thinking it was Monday? Sheesh.]

First, wildlife/conservation groups--including the Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, Earthjustice, Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, and HSUS--have today filed suit in response to the removal of Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves. Read more from the press release here: "Suit Filed to Challenge Removal of Endangered Species Act Protection From Northern Rockies Wolves."

Second, all over the news and blogosphere in recent days, there has been outrage and mourning over the assassination of physician and abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. But there has also been frustration and outrage over what his murder is--or rather is not--being labeled. In "3 Reasons Why Murdering an Abortion Doctor Isn’t Being Called 'Terrorism,'" Will Potter of GreenIsTheNewRed.com lays out the facts and obvious hypocrisies. Please read Will's post. He does a great job of deconstructing what's happening here.

Wolves and ranchers cannot exist together. Ranchers raise cattle as a business. When a wolf kills a calf, it is not seen as a life lost to feed another, it is seen as money lost in the business of cattle ranching. The ranchers are allowed to kill an entire pack of wolves to save their calves that are raised to head off to slaughter. Where is the sense in this? There is none. I live by Yellowstone. The "meat" industry will always come first here. Greed always wins over what is right.

People are greedy. Pro-life should mean all life. Sadly, it doesn't. The life worth more in monetary gains will always win. I still don't understand the word "humane". Being humane is an oxymoron. Humans are the least humane of all animals.
The word just doesn't make sense to me. Being humane is supposed to mean showing kindness and compassion. I just don't get it.

1/10th of a percentage point of livestock loss has anything to do with wolves, stop believing every liar on tv.

For those bright enough to have clues or get them:

After speaking to several Congressional offices by phone, I've got two petitions (for the House and Senate) to stop the canned hunt against wolves and other wildlife in Alaska and the Northern Rockies.  This can really work and is the best chance - promotion is badly needed, as Change.org sends petitions to their half a million membership based on popularity - also because I think people have given up, while palin is actually accelerating the nightmare as a parting shot, right after cubs were born.  They're both at Change.org: http://www.change.org/actions   and both have "slaughters" in the title, as I quickly found that works better.  The difference in numbers could really do it, and they've stayed in the top 10, but I stink at promoting, really need help.  For all the wildlife in Safari Club International's "get a 'trophy' before they're gone", sick sights, this is such an important place to draw the line.  Let's make it NO to turning the world's most powerful nation into a canned hunt, which is already done, if we don't stop it.  If anyone wants to read the full text, it's here: http://thegoodshipliana.ning.com/profiles/blogs/petitions-on-changeorg-full

Safari Clug is just a bunch of sorry ass men that have to kill to be able to get it up.. That what I think and I am so sick of them and what they want. To hell with them. May they all rot in their own waste. They can not see beauty in anything but a bullet. I hope that someday it does not come back to haunt them but you can not sow the seeds of murder and pain and not get it back. I sure hope when they stand before their maker with all that blood on their hands, that then they will know how the poor animals felt. I hope you children and grandchildren do not have to pay for your sins.
