Speak Up for Pigs on Twitter This Weekend

Published August 14, 2009 @ 10:11AM PT

Are you on Twitter? Are you interested in using it to advocate for our pig friends--and to irritate the hell out of animal ag at the same time? Fantastic! I knew you would be.

My friend Tracy of Digging Through the Dirt does a good job of keeping up with what the animal ag folks are up to, including how they've been using social media recently to promote their industries and put a positive spin on what are actually horrible practices. This Sunday, they're planning to descend on Twitter and make #oink a trending topic. But Tracy points out, "If the 'farmers' succeed, animal advocates can use this opportunity to raise awareness of the suffering pigs endure in agribusiness."

Please read Tracy's post on this for more thoughts and information, and plan some Tweets for Sunday.
