Help Retire the 26 Elderly, Wild-caught Chimpanzees at the New Iberia Research Center
https://community.hsus.org/campaign/US_2009_NIRC_jindal Of all of the stories to come out of the New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) investigation, some of the saddest are those of chimpanzees like Simba who was caught in the wild in 1967 and has spent most of his life since behind bars in a laboratory. He is one of 26 other elderly chimpanzees at NIRC who have languished in laboratories—for up to 50 years—after being taken from their mothers in the wild. Please contact Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and ask him to retire these chimpanzees to sanctuary before it's too late! TAKE ACTION After you make your call, fill in and submit the form at the right to automatically send a message to Governor Jindal. Governors receive a lot of email, so it is important to personalize the subject line and text below to make your message stand out and have a greater impact. » Tell a Friend | » Tell Me More Among these chimps are 26 elders who were taken decades ago from the wild. They are simply languishing behind bars and it's time to give these animals the sanctuary they deserve after decades in a laboratory. Thank you.
Help Retire the 26 Elderly, Wild-caught Chimpanzees at the New Iberia Research Center
Please make a brief, polite phone call to urge Governor Jindal to retire the 26 elderly, wild-caught chimpanzees from the the New Iberia Research Center. You can reach Governor Jindal through the switchboard at (866) 366-1121.
Due to your authority as governor over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (a state-run university), I respectfully ask you to retire the 26 elderly, wild-caught chimpanzees currently residing at New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) so that they can live out the rest of their lives in comfort. It is the least that can be done for them.
ABC News: Nightline, World News Tonight, and Good Morning America aired the story of the more than 300 chimpanzees at the New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) in Louisiana. The footage of NIRC was taken from a nine-month-long undercover investigation by The Humane Society of the United States.

Thank you for being a voice for the 26 elderly, wild-caught chimpanzees at NIRC, and for urging their retirement by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR). It is important that NCRR hears from as many people as possible about this. Please let your friends and family know how they can help retire these amazing animals, too. (We respect their privacy and our system will not save their email addresses.)

Quote: "We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it.
Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living beings, humanity will not find peace." -- Albert Schweitzer, physician/Nobel Laureate --
All animals are ALSO the children of our planet earth, our world...so WHY are we torture them, disrespect them...?
